Lesley and I had a very fun day today :-)
We started off with a lovely brunch at The Grey Dog...yummy.
Then after a quick run to the grocery store we headed down to the South Ferry station. There we boarded the ferry to Staten Island. It was a windy beautiful day to go by the Statue Liberty.
Once we got back to Manhattan about an hour later we made our way to Foley Square for...the No Pants subway ride. Yes you heard me, riding the subway with no pants.
We stood out in the 30 degree weather as the crowd got bigger and bigger. Finally about 3pm it all started. With some pre-speech words and instructions we headed to the 1 train. Once on board a few stops later we took our pants off and the fun began. We continued up to 42nd Street and switched trains to the N train headed to Union Square. When we got out of the station everyone was in their underwear.
So many more details to share but for now...

My group started downtown.
Oh here is a video I found:

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Participants were out and about in the subway on Sunday afternoon causing a scene dressed in not much more than their underwear.
ReplyDeleteThe 10th Annual No Pants Subway Ride took placed from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The group that organized the event — Improv Everywhere — said about 10,000 people took part in New York City.
There were several meeting points across NYC, including Hoyt Playground, Foley Square, Flushing Meadows Park and Bushwick Park. All routes eventually converged on Union Square.
Participants were divided up into groups and had a team leader. Those involved were also instructed not to take photos or talk to one another on subway trains.
”This is funny cause one unusual thing is going on — there is no pants,” one of the organizers, Jesse Good, said
“We don’t need to compound that and put a joke on a joke. We don’t need to do stretching in people’s faces, we don’t need to do pole dances,” he said to the amusement of participants.
Organizers advised the pants-less riders to say they “forgot to wear pants” or that their pants were “getting uncomfortable” if confronted about why they had removed their pants by fellow straphangers.
Similar events took place in 24 countries and at 50 regional subways, including Barcelona, Mexico City, London and Amsterdam.
craziest day ever! No Pants DOE!
