Last week was a bit...

Last week was a bit of a mellow week.  After a great weekend with the parents I finally caught the office bug about midweek.  So therefore there wasn't really anything worthy of posting on here.  Took a couple of half days on Thursday and Friday and then ended up sleeping most of the day on Saturday.
Fun times!!!

Well this week is my last week in NYC.  I am feeling better this morning and I still have a few more fun events planned before I leave on Thursday.
Tonight I am heading to Williamsburg to see Tommy perform in his cabaret show.
Tomorrow I am taking David to see a new broadway show, "Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert".
Wednesday will be my last day in the office followed probably by drinks at XES with the coworkers.

:-)

It's been a fun two months here in NYC.

How could I forget...

Ok so in all my posting about this weekends events I forgot one of the highlights.  Besides having a great weekend with my parents.  I also got the chance to see one of my favorite artist...

Gregory Douglass!!!

He was in town recording for a new album and he played a gig on Sunday night at the Living Room.
A great show as always and he even played a song I requested too....the 2nd song was a shout out to me.

Snow and Natural History

Sunday I met up with my folks and on my way over to meet them I took these pics...

We met up with my cousin Stevie at Artie's Deli.  www.arties.com
Of course I had to have a brisket sandwich.  Me at a deli almost always equals getting brisket...mmmm.

After lunch with Stevie we made our way to the American Natural History museum.  Here are a few dino pics for Elan and then some of the view of Central Park.

After the museum we got a few cookies at Insomnia and then headed back the the apt.  Mom rested up and Dad and I went out for a beer.  Later that night we met up with Uncle Max for dinner.

What a full fun filled weekend with the parents.  :-)

Brooklyn Museum of Art

Saturday my folks got into town.  :-)
They stayed at Uncle Max's place on West End Ave, very nice.
We went out Saturday night with David to Josie's for a great dinner.
Sunday we headed over to the Brooklyn Museum of Art.

These first 4 pics are at the subway station at the museum.

Here are some pics from inside the museum...

A tour of Inwood with Tommy

Ok before I jump into my tour on Saturday of Inwood, let me back track to Friday night.  I met up with David for dinner after work and then we headed over to catch a show called Dueling Pianos.  I got a Groupon for the show...2 tix and 2 drinks for $25.  I wasn't sure what to expect from the show since I had never been to one before.  It was 2 guys playing piano, a drummer, and a saxophonist.  The way the show worked was you could bring up requests on a slip of paper and if you gave enough money they would play your request.  It was interesting and fun, we ended up staying for 2 hours.

Ok so Saturday...
Tommy so generously agreed to show me around Inwood.  You get more bang for the buck up there but it is further away from the action.  There is an A train Express that runs up there that helps to get downtown quickly but it's still a commute.
He showed me around Fort Tryon Park, Inwood, a little of Washington Heights, his apartment and also took me to a cute little diner.  His apartment was very spacious for a 2 bedroom place in the city.
So let me just post some pics of my walk around of the area.

An evening with Joe

Last night I hit up Joe's Pub with Sally to see Michael Sackler-Berner

A former neighbor who lived in the garage apartment in Hollywood now works at the Public Theatre which Joe's Pub is attached to.  She was able to get me tickets and a table to the show last night.
Sally and I had a good time.  The music was good and the place had a great atmosphere.  I will totally go back again for another show.

This weekend will be a busy with one.
Starting off with a Dueling Pianos show on Friday night.  I got a Groupon for the show so David and I are gonna check it out.
Then Saturday I will check out Inwood with Tommy during the day.
Meet up with my parents who are coming into the city.  (yippee)
Watch the UVM Men's Basketball team play in the ESPN Bracket Busters.
Dinner with the parents and David after that.
Then touring around on Sunday during the day and seeing Gregory Douglass Sunday night.
Lunch with cousin Stevie on Monday and dinner with Uncle Max that night.

Fun, fun, fun!!!

A Saturday in Williamsburg

Saturday David and I headed over to Williamsburg for the day.  We first had brunch at Tavern on Jane near 14th and 8 Ave.  If you are looking for a great little place with some charm check it out.

After brunch we made our way on the L train to Williamsburg, otherwise known as hipster land.
We got off at the Bedford stop and started our adventure.  We poked out head into various shops along the strip.  At one antique store I saw a child's alphabet wooden block that had my initials right next to one another....even the H above the J and P, so I picked up the little trinket.

We continued our walk and headed west towards the East River to a park that overlooked the skyline of Manhattan.  Before getting to the park we stopped off at a big indoor flea market, Artist and Fleas.  I picked up a t-shirt in there that I liked.

After the flea market we ended up the park, East River State Park
Had a great view of the Empire state building and the rest of Manhattan.

We continued to walk around the rest of the day around the area.

This pic of me is at a little coffee shop we stopped at near the end of our day in Williamsburg.

Just a few pics to share with you all from my little stroll this afternoon.  I walked down 24th Street to 5th Avenue.  Then walked up to 30th and headed back to the office via 7th Avenue.
I got a great pic of the Empire State Building and also took a shot of the Collegiate Reformed Church.

Enjoy...
